Report Cards & Reporting Periods:
For purposes of formal reporting, report cards will be issued in November, March, and June. The marks on each report card reflect the student's achievement in the objectives dealt with during that particular term. The comment section is used to indicate individual progress, as well as the child's effort in class.
Student Evaluation:
The evaluation of student progress and achievement is an integral component of the learning/teaching process and will reflect the child's progress in relation to provincial standards for the grade level. Evaluation of students' achievement may include the following:
- project work
- assignments
- tests
- informal teacher assessments
- observation
Parent Teacher Interviews:
Interviews are scheduled following the first and second report cards. Traditional interviews and student led conferences are both used as interview formats. Student led conferences allow parents to celebrate in their child's accomplishments and encourage children to be responsible for their learning. Teachers or parents are to make arrangements for interim interviews if desired. To help you get the most out of the parent/teacher interviews:
-talk to your child about their progress first.
-write down your specific questions or concerns.
-feel free to discuss your child's special interests.
